Routing Safety Tips![]()
Always wear eye & ear protection.
Pre-plough dovetail cuts with a straight cutter to remove the majority
of the waste.
Follow router manufacturer's safety & use instructions.
Before changing cutters, always unplug your router!!!
Insert at least 3/4 of bit shank into the collet.
Always check bits for damage before use. If in doubt, throw it out!!!
Use template guide collars whenever possible to reduce bit
deflection.
When installing bits, always leave about 1/8" clearance from the collet
bottom.
Always ensure that your Collett in your Router is Tight and the Router Bit is Secure.
Always reduce router speeds for large bits.
Always use a router table with fence when working with large diameter
bits.
Always use a router table & fence whenever possible.
Always use sharp Bits.
Adjust fence for a slight clearance between the guide bearing and the
stock.
For heavy stock removal, to prolong bit life & give a better
finish, always use multiple passes.
If you have purchased Router Bits with a lock retaining nut on the top of the Router Bit, you must always ensure that this lock retaining nut is tight and secure, this must be checked regularly, failure to do so may result in injury.

We recommend that Router users to have taken courses in Woodworking,
though a certifed educational institution so that they are familiar with, Router Safety procedures,guidelines, and are fully converse in how to safely
use and operate this machine and it's associated tooling.
Always keep your hands, and fingers well clear of the Router Bit. Failure to do so may result in injury.
Never wear loose clothing when operating any machinery.
